North Coast has diverse terroir from coast to hills
Established in 1983, The North Coast AVA covers 6 counties north of San Francisco: Napa Valley, Sonoma, West Sonoma Coast, Los Carneros, Mendocino, Lake County, and Solano.
This AVA is the foundation of modern California winemaking and home to over half the state’s wineries. Stretching from fog-cooled coastlines to sunlit inland valleys, the region’s diverse terroir supports a mosiac of grape varieties and distinctive wine styles.
Every region has a story. Click on the California North Coast map to reveal the food, wine, and culture that define each destination.
