WINEMAKER'S NOTES:
We created the 2012 Bucephalus using some of the best grapes found in the Napa Valley. We harvest from vineyards at high elevations in the mountain AVA's of Diamond Mountain, Mount Veeder and Atlas Peak. These mountainous AVA's are the ideal growing environment for producing wines with huge concentration and immense depth. Atlas Peak's rocky, volcanic soils are dry and free-draining which causes grapevines to focus on producing concentrated and flavorful wines. We blended a small portion of Syrah into the Bucephalus to help knit the blend together. The Syrah comes from the Coombsville AVA, and brings an intoxication elixir quality to the wine. Together, these vineyard blocks creat a powerful and well-structured wine.
TASTING NOTES:
By selecting small lots of only the finest fruit from premiere Napa Valley vineyards, using specially selected barrels, and meticulously blending until we achieve perfection is the manner in which we create Bucephalus. The 2012 Bucephalus shoucases aromas of ripe blue and black fruit, toasty vanilla and cinnamon spice. The opulent aromas integrate beautifully with the rich, ripe, sweet fruit flavors and nuances of cocoa spice and brown sugar. Rich tannins and a long finish balance this refined full-bodied wine.
