Pinot Grigio

Our 2008 Pinot Grigio shows elegant aromas of almond, grapefruit, white rose, apricot, jasmine and honeydew melon. These aromas follow through to a rich palate with delicate citrus flavors ending with a refreshing crisp finish.

We picked the fruit for our 2008 Pinot Grigio from a little vineyard in the Eastern hills of the Napa Valley. It was mid August and it was the first lot of the Black Stallion Winery 2008 harvest. The fruit was picked by hand early in the morning. We like to pick in the early morning before the day heats up to preserve the delicate aromas and fruity flavors. The fruit was very gently pressed to avoid over extraction of astringency from the grape skins. The juice was then fermented slowly at cool temperature in small stainless steel vats.

Perfect for summertime dining and a great compliment to seafood such as scallops or halibut, Caprese salad and creamy pasta dishes.
