The aromas of boysenberry, black plum and candied orange rind along with subtle spice notes of cardamom, sassafras and white pepper continue on to form a rich expressive palate. The fruit is accented with additional flavors of cassis, chocolate and hazelnut. This food-friendly and versatile wine complements pork roast, lamb and turkey as well as many savory vegetarian dishes.

The fruit for our 2005 Syrah comes from a small vineyard in the Oak Knoll District called Beau Terre Vineyard located on Big Ranch Road very near the winery. The Beau Terre Vineyard is planted on gravelly, loam soil in climate conditions that are influenced by warm up-valley heat that is tempered by cool fog rolling in from the San Pablo Bay to the south. The result is a well balanced, elegant Syrah with aromatic complexity, bright acidity and lingering flavors.
